January NewFO Giveaway Winner

If I had known so many of you were going to show up for the linky party, I'd have baked cookies!  It's thrilling to have so many participants.  Thank you one and all.  Today is the day I said I would pick a winner of the quilt pin.  With a bag full of these sweet little pins, I reached in and drew one out at random.

Cute, huh?  These are about 2 x 2 inches.  Then I generated a number at random from all of you who linked up.  There were 45 of you in all!  And the winner is:

Congratulations to Judee!  I'll be contacting you via separate email, and I'll get your pin out to you right away.

Now, don't despair if you didn't win.  I'll be giving away a quilt pin each month, so keep starting on those NewFO's and look for another link-up on February 29th--Leap Day!  And speaking of February, have you started your February NewFO yet?  I started mine today:

Hm.  I just noticed that one of the blocks is turned the wrong way.  Do you see it?  In any case, it's a stadium quilt for my son and daughter-in-law to take with them when they go to the Oregon State football games.  I've had this Oregon State fabric positively forEVER, and so I'm glad to finally be putting it to good use.  This pattern is from the City Quilts book by Cherri House.  The pattern is called City Tracks.

It's made up of 120 blocks, each 6 1/2 inches unfinished.  I can get 6 blocks from each strip set, and so I've cut 20 strips from each fabric.  Now, I'm busily sewing them together and cutting them to the right width.  I'm about 25% there at this point.  These should go together fast, and I'm hoping to have the quilt finished by September when football season starts.

Each strip set has a leftover 4-inch wide "block" that I'm setting aside.  Maybe I'll have enough to make a bag or a doll quilt or something.  We'll see.  I'll do something with them so they won't go to waste.

Also today, I finished up Block 13 of the Just Takes 2 quilt along.

And with that I've finished the set for the first half of February.  The next set is due out on February 15th.

Also, this seems a good time to tell you that I won a fat quarter with my name for a block from the last set.  I came up with the name "Kissing Fish" for this block.

I just love that red batik.  I'm hoping I'll have some left over when all of these blocks are finished so that I can use it in another project.  So pretty.

How did your Tuesday go?

I was energized this morning bouncing from one project to the next, but this afternoon my motivation disappeared. I've said it before, I love those red blocks.

Love the kissing fish block. It looks complicated to build. Your points are perfect.

I have the City Quilts book, and Love it! Made one, don't recall the name right now, but it's the one that is all shades of blue in strips. It was one my son said he liked, so, of course, I had to make it for him!
Great blocks on the Just Takes 2 challenge,, I'll get mine done this week yet ( I hope! )
Have fun working on your stadium quilt!

Hmm - I have not yet started my February project altho I know what it is. Thanks for the kick to get moving.

I love your kissing fish design and name. Wonder how a whole quilt in this design (scrappy 1-color or otherwise) would look? Need to drag out EQ tonight.

Congratulations to Judee! And thank you for hosting this. This was to be a UFO year for me but I've already got my February NewFo almost to the top stage! Guess I had to admit to myself that while I do want to get my old projects done, there is nothing like a new one!

Congrats to Judee!
It's cool the way the zigzags in the stadium quilt seem to be floating above the solid orange, nice!
Your red & white blocks are gorgeous!!! And Kissing Fish is a perfect & fun name for that block. :D
