Foto Finish: Doors

The optional theme for this week's Foto Finish is "Doors".  Here's my entry:

These are the front doors of a family (or maybe more than one family) from the walled city of Montone in the Umbria region of Italy.  I traveled there several years back and found myself continually impressed that people actually made their homes in these charming structures.  It would be like living in Disneyland.  It's one of the things that I love most about Europe . . . the architecture.  I was especially smitten with Italy, and hope to return there some day to see more of this lovely and diverse country.

For next week's theme I'm thinking of something wide open to interpretation.  I'll be interested to see what you come up with for the optional theme of :  The Way I See It

Now I'm ready to see your images for today.  Did you stick with the theme?  Are you showing us something else from your life?  You don't need to have a blog to participate.  Many thanks to Dana over at Stormy Days for this tutorial on how to link up using a FlickR image.  Here's Mr. Linky:

Beautiful home, I like the bright spots the flowers make by the stairs and under the windows.

Beautiful entryway ... lots of steps! I love European architecture, too. It always makes me aware of how "new" our country is comparatively!! :)

I loved Italy as well and would love to go back for an extended period of time and just travel around.

Great theme today. I wasn't sure about it at first, but oh what fun it was to go through my pictures.

Looks like a lovely place to live. I have only spent a few days in Italy - would also love to go back sometime.

I actually did live in a house that had an arched front door & windows across the front! It probably isn't as old as this one, but it's old-for-California, and it was fun to live there.
I love the wooden door with the rough stone walls. sigh.
