Design Wall Monday--February 6, 2012

My sewing machine is smoking after all the sewing I did this week.  It's good to get a lot accomplished, and since there's nothing I'd rather do than sew, I'm a pretty happy camper this Monday morning.

The doll quilt top for my friend Lisa's granddaughter, Camlyn, is finished now.  I'll still need to quilt and bind it, but I'm gearing up to start on the next one now.  Three down, two to go.

I was going to use the striped fabric on the right for the binding, but now I'm thinking I'll go with a purple to match the two narrow inner borders.  Also, I'm going to add some metallic top-stitching to emphasize parts of the castle, and I'll add some Swarovski hot fix crystals to the little corner crowns.  Camlyn likes her bling!

Last week, I gave you just a sneak peek of the block I made for this month's Block Swap Adventure.  Now that I know my swap partner has the block safely in her hands, I can show you the whole thing.  This block is called Nosegay.

For this week's incremental projects, I completed the February block for the We Bee Learning block bee.

Also, I completed Block 12 for the Just Takes 2 quilt along:

I'll work on Block 13 today, and then I want to start my February NewFO project, which is from the City Tracks pattern.

I'm planning to use Oregon State University fabrics

and make a stadium blanket that Erik and Mae can take with them to their football games this fall.  I even have an idea how to make a carrying handle for it.
Also, I'm making good progress on the 6th block for the Day in the Life of Mr. Bear quilt.  I'm expecting to wrap that up this week, and that will give me some time to finish up the binding on the Sunshine on My Shoulders quilt.  I need to finish that one soon because the Checkerboard Flowers quilt will be back from the quilter any day.  I don't like having too many quilts needing binding all at the same time.

So that's probably enough to commit to in one week.  If you haven't linked up your January NewFO Project, there's still one day left to get into the giveaway.  Even if you aren't linking up, you can see what your fellow quilters started during the month of January.  Check it out right here.

The doll quilt is a darling one, Barbara! You've always got so (sew) much going on -- how do you keep up with it all?? Your block 12 for the JT2 quilt looks great, as does your Nosegay block. It's *very* pretty -- I like the layout! :)

wow, you are a very busy lady! Cute doll quilt. I never heard of hot fix crystals but it sounds gorgeous. How do you use them and do they really stay on thru washings and wear?

Love the princess and castle quilt with bling! It is very sweet. You are getting a lot done. I tend to save boms but not do them. I always can try later! LOL.

The nosegay block is really cool - I love the green plaid! And it will be fun to watch the Oregon State quilt come together - such a wonderful pattern!
