Chilly Today, Hot Tamale

The sun is out today, but the temperatures are still bone chilling.  Still, it's good to get outside and breathe some fresh air.  George and I headed out to see what was going on.  The first thing we spied was this ladybug crawling on my sage plant.  Surely, that must mean something.

I walked down into the woods to see if anything was growing there yet.  This is the time of year when the first trilliums start to unfurl.  There are no leaves on the trees yet, however, and the trilliums are shade lovers.

It will probably be another couple of weeks before they start showing themselves.  The ferns, however, never disappoint.

I tried to get George to walk down into the woods with me, but he had just one thing to say:  "Nah-ah".

So, we stayed topside to see what was going on in the rest of the field.  It's fun when the weather warms up and these pine cones start to crack open.  I can hear them snapping all around me, but not today.  It's still too cold.

There's plenty of mole activity, as there always is.

We gave the blue jays some peanuts, and it took them all of about six seconds to find them.  As I've been editing my images and writing this post, a span of about twenty minutes, they've nearly emptied the feeder.

Did you ever see a bird that's a pig?  Maybe that's where that expression comes from, "When pigs fly".

Oh you have the beautiful Stellar Jays - yes Jays are pigs - love the expression you used for them. My furries wandered around with me this morning, but it is so wet and muddy we called it a short walk.

I've never seen a Stellar Jar. Very nice looking. Do you get ladybugs in your house? It's a sign of spring here when they show up on windowsills in droves. I actually found one in the bedroom closet yesterday - they aren't usually in dark places like that. George is such a poser - love his photo.

George is really alert in this shot...something or someone must have caught his attention. He ~is~ a gorgeous boy! Thanks for inviting us to walk with you. Luv

We've had ladybugs in our RV all winter -- they drive me NUTS! I love the shot of George -- what a handsome cat he is!! :)

What a nice walk. Too bad George wouldn't go into the woods. I love the shot of the lady bug on the sage, that's quite a contrast.

Our ladybugs have come to life in the closet. Every year. I feed them grapes sometimes, which I know is weird, but I like them.

I like finding lady bugs on my plants, they're eating the bad guys. That jay is very cool, I've never seen one like that. Hi, to George.

Looks like a great day for a stroll! It was good of George to keep an eye on you, just in case.
