When I looked at the weather forecast last night, this is what I saw:
When I got up this morning, this is what I saw:
As you can see from this image that includes the glass-topped table on our patio, we have about eight inches, and the snow is still falling.
Living on the Pacific Flyway, we have birds year-round. Different species come and go, but we always have some feathered friends around. When we're here in the winter, we keep the bird feeders full just for that reason. We even have hummingbirds for a good part of the year. Despite a full bird feeder, these crows seem pretty well bummed out. Sadly for them, they are too big to eat from the tube feeder we have.
Maybe I'll take pity on them and go throw some seed on the ground later. It'll have to stop snowing first, however, or the seed will just get covered over again.
Our RV is used to heading south for the winter. If it could think and speak, I imagine it would be whining about this blanket of white. ("It hurts my fiberglass to be so cold.")
George and Gracie have staked out their territory for the day. They'll be building snow mice . . . in their dreams.
As for me . . . I'll be in my sewing room with the heater running. Hot chocolate, coming right up.

Winter Wonderland!!! SO beautiful--- but now I've got chill bumps! ;-) I'm funny that way.. Once I was watching a rerun of a Little House on the Prairie episode where they were having a blizzard-- now, mind you, I was watching it in the middle of the Summer in south Alabama, and just seeing all that snow blowing around and hearing the cold wind howl -- I got chill bumps! LOL George and Gracie have right idea! Perfect day for snuggling and sleeping! :-)
Wow that is a lot of snow. We got 4inches on the week-end, but it doesn't look as pretty. However I would take 37F any day it is -33C now which is -27F and tonight is its going down to -48C which is -54F!
Seeing a lot of these weather reports on blogs. We got snow and ice all night and now raining. I do not plan to go anywhere! Yes, my furries are hunkered in a plushy blanket and I am sewing my tiny bits of scraps quite happily.
Your first picture looks like a postcard...very pretty! (I love to see snow....on the mountains in the distance LOL!) Have a nice day stitching and staying warm!
Glad you're enjoying it! I had plans this week that I really don't want to cancel....but I really don't want to drive in this, so I guess it's going to be a quilting day.
Oh MY! This is GORGEOUS! Now I'm going to enjoy snow vicariously! Your birds would probably appreciate some unfrozen water, too. I didn't know you RV'd! What kind do you have, Barbara?! And the cats look comfy and warm ... that's all that's important, right? LOL! :)
I know it's a pain, and it's cold, but it's so beautiful!! We haven't had any snow yet this year. :-(
What a wonderful site to see all that snow. It is much needed in so much of the west coast to build up that water reserve. Great sewing weather :)
What a beautiful view! Hope you don't have to drive in it though. We have feeders in our yard too, hanging ones and ground feeders, suet and peanut feeders, and hummingbird feeders (3) in the right season. I just love seeing all the different birds. Have fun sewing and viewing!
Don't you love it when the weathermen get it right? LOL. It's either a blizzard when they predict light snow or absolutely nothing when they tell you the highways are treacherous! Your snow, although NOT light, is beautiful. It looks like the cats have it right- cuddle up and nap!
Wow, Barbara - what an incredibly beautiful winter shot of your yard!
I love your first photo of the snow covered trees. Looks like a Christmas card.
Hope you are staying warm and got lots of sewing done!
