Design Wall Monday--January 16, 2012

This week was spent free motion quilting for the most part.  However, I did complete two swap blocks.  This one was for the We Bee Learning Swap:

And this paper-pieced Rhode Island star is for my January partner on the Quilting Board:

Also, I completed my January Free Motion Quilting Challenge block.

After that, I turned my attention to the two doll quilts that were waiting patiently to be quilting (because, after all, what choice do they have?).  Both are finished I'm happy to say.  This one, with a theme of "Show Us Where You Live," was my representation of my home state of Oregon.

And this one, which I call The Flute Player, is for my friend Lisa's granddaughter, Elyce.  Elyce plays the flute and her favorite color is purple.  This quilt was designed and made especially for her.

This week I'm hoping to finish the second set of blocks for the Just Takes 2 red and white quilt challenge.  Also, I want to start on the first stitchery for the Promises & Borders quilt along.  Finally, I'm going to start a doll quilt for the next of Lisa's five granddaughters, Kylee.  Kylee's favorite color is blue, and she likes horses.  These are the fabrics I'm going to use in Kylee's quilt.  I'm excited to get started on it.

When I showed these fabrics to my friend, Lisa, this is what she said:
Kylee is extremely artistic - gifted even, and the whimsical horses and bright colors will feed her soul!
Soul-feeding straight ahead.

I linked up at Amy's One Thing, One Week linky party, and saw your stunning mountain quilt there, too. It is gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing what you create with the horsie fabric!

Your FMQ block looks great! And I adore the horses...they make me think of the Osmond's and their song, "Crazy Horses"! Oooh...that's going WAY back in the day! :)

Love all the minis! I have that horse fabric in browns and metalics - and the little zip bags I use it for just fly off the shelf - everyone just loves those horses. Super job on your FMQ block - yet to master this to my liking.

My goodness you have been busy!! Both blocks are so pretty and your FMQ is spectacular. I have yet to make mine up. Both of your doll quilts are amazing. I'm totally in awe of the top one. It sounds as if you have selected the perfect fabric for the next doll quilt. Your week ahead looks to be very busy too.

You did good last week. I really like the paper-pieced block. I really, really like blue and white.
