Foto Finish: No Theme!

As I said last week, I'm doing away with themes for Foto Finish.  Choose any image you like and tell us about it.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.  Here's my entry for the week:

With our wet, gray week here in Oregon, I wanted to see some color today.  This image was taken when we hiked the Paradise Trail on Mt. Rainier a few summers ago.  This is only a snapshot of the incredible scenery one can see on the trail.  In July and August the wildflowers are in bloom, and the mountain puts on an amazing display of color.  Makes me want to go right now, but somehow I think the view might be different in December.  I read that during World War II, soldiers deploying to the coldest areas of Europe trained on Mt. Rainier during the winter.  Think I'll pass, at least for this year.

Now I'm ready to see what you've come up with for this "no theme" Foto Finish.  Be safe this New Year's Eve.  I want to be reading your comments again in the New Year.  Besides, you are all terribly important to me.

We have had a lot of rain over the last few days too. I dont think it will be a very pleasant New Years Eve for most people in New Zealand this year.

Beautiful photo. It's nice to be reminded of spring in the middle of winter. It's been warm here this week, but everything is still brown. It's nice to be reminded we'll be seeing green again.

What a lovely photo catch, Barbara -- it looks like something you'd find on a calendar! :)

I just finished reading a book called "West Of Here" by Jonathan Evison. Historical fiction of the Pacific Northwest, namely Washington State. I know, you live in Oregon, but it was dramatically written melding the beginnings of a town in 1890 and the descendents of the characters in 2006. Gave me a feel for that area of the country, which I've never visited. It's beautiful.
