Reds and Whites

Certainly not everything I do is redwork.  It just seems that way.  Here's what I finished yesterday.

This is the second block in the "A Day in the Life of Mr. Bear" quilt.  The stitchery was finished weeks ago . . . before I started my hand-quilting class.  And before I started trying to finish the "Sunshine" quilt.  Finally, yesterday, I was able to put the borders on this block.

Here it is alongside the first block.

The binding is on my whole-cloth mini-quilt now, and I have it hanging in my sewing room.

And this morning I finished the 5th (? 6th?) stitchery in the Sew Happy Sewalong.

I changed my stitchery a little from the original.  It's always bothered me to spell "Christmas" with an "X".  That's not intended as a criticism of the design--it's just my little bugaboo, and it would have bothered me every time I looked at the completed project.  I certainly can't have myself being all bothered all the time, now can I?

Then in yesterday's mail, I received my swap block from my swap partner, MadeinMaine.  (It took me a bit to figure out her user name.  Do you see it?  Made in Maine?  Cute.  Anyway . . . )  I've asked my swap partners for "anything cat".  This is what MadeinMaine came up with:

Here's a close-up of the little cat face:

I just love this block.  The colors are so sweet and the cat is so cute.  Thank you, MadeinMaine!

Today, I'm hoping to get started on hand-sewing the binding for my "Winter Wonderland" quilt.  I still haven't started on the crystals.  That will come after the binding, I've decided.  I'd like to enter that quilt in the Christmas Quilt show at the end of the month.  Also, I want to get going on my November UFO Challenge quilt.

Never a dull sewing moment around here.  Plenty of dull needles, however.  The quilter?  She's a little dull at times too.

These are sweet -- I love redwork! I had my daughter pick up some fabric for me today, so I can start on the Christmas stitcheries! I saw that someone had done white embroidery thread on red fabric and thought it was wonderful -- I'm going to give that a try! :)

Fun post full of really neat things. :) The bear redwork blocks look absolutely fantastic next to each other. What a sweet basket kitty - with a bow, even!

What a cute kitty block; the ribbon makes it special. Glad to see the red work coming along too. You will get them all done in time for their respective debuts. I have faith in you.

Another post of eye candy!
If I wasn't at work, you would surely inspire me to get back to work on one of my projects....

That stitchery is so cute, wish I had some grandchildren to quilt for, lol. You have gotten a lot done and some beautiful pieces.

I love your redwork (even when it's bluework).

Your swap partner did a great job, it's a darling block.

The quilter at your house may lose a little sharpness here and there, but she never makes it all the way to dull anytime.
