This week's Foto Finish theme is Birds. Here's my entry:
This image was taken a few years back when we visited Balmorrhea State Park in Texas. Mike and I went scuba diving here and saw these little ducks diving all the way from the surface of the water to the bottom of the pool to forage on whatever they found of interest. We couldn't tell if they were eating fish, moss, or something else. They just seemed to dive en masse, eat, then all surface en masse. It was a lot of fun watching them.
I was going to link to some information about Balmorrhea when I discovered this video. Balmorrhea State Park is one of our favorite snow bird destinations. Watch the video and see why we love this interesting place.
For next week's theme, we're moving into December. I'm thinking of: Cold
Now I'm ready to see your birds. Here's Mr. Linky:

I love the brilliant blue in this image and also the detail in the water.
Very hadnsome bird. The park looks like a great place to visit.
I love your duck - I think what they were really doing was performing for their audience!
On this one I took the easy way out and used our Thanksgiving bird!!
Gorgeous color on that picture...I can see why you are drawn to that location! I voted for your "Pantry" quilt....love it!
Your duck is a Lesser Scaup, and it was most likely diving for small shellfish. Their preferred diet is teeny little clams!
All I can say about Balmorrhea is "Take me with you!" :)
What a pretty shot! And your swimming pool video brought back great memories. That is our old stomping ground. We lived 30 minutes from there for 15 years and got out mail right across the street from the pool at Toyavale. Still miss those mountains. Always will. It still feels like home wehn we are back in the area.
