Design Wall Monday--October 3, 2011

Most of my time was spent canning and working on my "pay it forward" gifts, which I can't show you until next week.  However, I do have a couple of things to show you.  First, I finished the top for my October doll quilt swap.  My partner asked for something relating to cats, and so I did this one.  The pattern is called "Cat on the Pumpkin" from This-n-That Fabrics, and it is available for free on the internet.

It still needs quilting and binding, but I'm feeling pretty good about having the top finished this early in the month.

Also, my "Winter Wonderland" quilt is back from the quilter.  I posted pictures earlier in the week, but for those of you who are not followers, I'll show them again.  I'm still planning to put crystals on it, and it still needs binding.  I haven't taken it any further since it came home with me again.

As I said in my earlier post, it's quilted with a pearlescence thread that is so pretty and sparkly.  I wish it showed up better in these images.

That's it from me this week.  To see more design walls, visit:

Love your halloween piece. I always say I will make one of their freebies, but never get around to it. I really love how your christmas quilt came out, really nice in blues and the quilting is amazing.

Love the kitty on the doll quilt -- did he just catch a glimpse of Uno? :) I can't look at your Winter Wonderland quilt enough. I am crazy about how the snowflakes are quilted in it! Gorgeous!

You must be so excited to have your snowman quilt so close to finished!! I love that it has pearlescent thread for the quilting. Do you already have the crystals? I don't know anything about costs, but I was just at a quilt class where the teacher used crystals on several of the quilts in her trunk show, and it made a HUGE difference when she used "real" Schwarovsky hotfix crystals versus the knock-offs. Huge.
