Today I got all the stitcheries sewn together for my Winter Wonderland quilt!
The polka dot across the bottom is the fabric for the inner border around the stitchery panel. Then all the stars, once they're sewn together, will form a wide outer border. I'll use the polka dot for the binding too.
I was supposed to embroider using a feather stitch on the seam lines between the stitcheries, but I just used a fancy stitch from my sewing machine. It was kind of a hassle because I wanted to start and end the fancy stitch in the seam allowance, and so I kept having to switch from white thread to blue thread, and from my quarter-inch presser foot to my zigzag foot. On, off, on, off, on, off. It took quite a bit of time, but I like how it turned out.
The backgrounds of the stitcheries are different colors of white and cream, and this was how the pattern instructed me to do it. In the same way, the backgrounds of the stars are different colors of white and cream, and there are some spacers between the star blocks of different colors too. I'm guessing this gives it a kind of rustic look, but it's a little shocking to see it all laid out with different colored backgrounds. Mike thought I'd made a mistake, but I assured him it was intentional.
I was hoping I'd have enough time to get the border on today, but I don't. Now I'm hoping I can steal enough time tomorrow to do it. If not, it'll have to wait until we get back from camping.

Beautiful, Barb, the blue really shines and the differing background fabrics lend a unique look to the piece.
It's beautiful, Barb!! I like how you did the stitching on the seam lines. Great job :)
Oh boy! It looks just fabulous all together Barb! Like line drawings, simple & clean. :D
Barbara, it's just gorgeous! The different whites/creams will look really nice when it's all together with the border. Thanks for starting us off at BOMs Away :)
