Design Wall Monday--August 8, 2011

Remember those goals I set for myself last week?  Well, that didn't happen.  I got sidetracked by a doll quilt swap, which turned out to be a lot of fun.  Here's the doll quilt I mailed off to my swap partner this week.

This quilt is 14 x 19 inches.  I found the pattern on the internet, although it certainly wouldn't be difficult to duplicate.  The little patches for the nine-patch blocks are cut to 1-1/2 inch, so the nine-patch blocks each measure three inches finished.  So cute.  All of these fabrics were taken from my stash, and the batting was salvaged from the cut-off edges of larger quilts.  I love it when I can make a complete quilt without buying anything.

Then, my "Dave's Not Here" quilt came back from the quilter.  I don't want to post pictures of the whole thing until I finish the binding, but I think my quilter, Tammi, did a great job on it.  Here are a few sample shots of the quilting.

I'm about one-third of the way around the quilt on the binding, so I'll post images of the whole thing once it's completely finished.

Finally (and this one was on my list of goals for the week), I finished the largest of the stitcheries for my "Winter Wonderland" quilt.

I have just one stitchery left on this, and it's one of the smaller ones.  All the largest ones are finished.  I'm going to try to get a start on the stars for the month of August this week.  The Martha Washington star is next.  The closer I am to finishing this, the faster I want to go on it.  I'm excited to see the blocks all stitched together.

Oh this is such a cute and refreshing page to visit in the mornings or anytime for that matter ha. I do love your quilts especially the burgandy I adore that color for fall/winter.Actually my walls in my living room are a bit burgandy maybe not as dark.I try adding lots of white in the room for a touch of softness and it makes it even prettier.
Have a great new week Barbara!

Excellent job on the DQ! Nice thing about the small quilts is the almost instant gratification, isn't it?
