August UFO Complete

This morning I completed the three 9-inch Martha Washington stars for my "Winter Wonderland" quilt.

I sometimes feel as if I have to stand on my head in order to get the points all going in the right direction in those center pinwheels.  There is still a 12-inch Martha Washington star to make, but I'll save that for the next round.  I've committed to making two stars each month, but with these all being the same size, it made sense to cut them all at the same time.  It just means I'll have one less to do next time.

And just to document my whole UFO challenge finish, here is this month's completed stitchery, the largest of all of them.

After that, there are just four pinwheels (like the center pinwheel on these stars) left to do.  I'm about halfway finished with the last stitchery, and so I'm getting really close!  The closer I get, the more I want to put everything else aside and work on this exclusively.  I've also decided to embellish the snowflakes on the stitcheries with hot fix crystals.  I've only done that once before, but it was very effective.

You certainly do a great job of lining up those points and seams - wow! I was curious about the stitchery...is it cross stitch or embroidery stitches? I'm trying to brush the cobwebs from my emb. skills and do some stitcheries to include in my quilt designs.

Absolutely lovely! I have always wanted to concentrate my efforts to a blue and white only quilt. Your points all look great to me. Although, I know what you mean!

You are doing a marvelous job, Barbara. I found that those pinwheels had minds of their own also. Pat yourself on the back - the big stitchery is done. Judy c in NC
