Foto Finish--Things That Are Hot

This week's Foto Finish theme is:  Things that are Hot

Here's my entry:

This is Morning Glory Pool at Yellowstone National Park.  If you've never been to Yellowstone National Park, it is a fascinating, if stinky place.  We've been there a couple of times.  The last time we did quite a bit of hiking, including hiking out to see this formation.  For as beautiful as it is, one would expect it to smell better!

Morning Glory Pool has been damaged over the years by visitors tossing coins and other trinkets into the "wishing well."  Over time, the vent that keeps it hot has been plugged.  Nevertheless it remains warm and cozy at somewhere around 170°F.

For next week's theme, I'm thinking of

Farm Fields

That should open up a world of interpretive possibilities.  And now I'm ready to see your "hot" images.  Here's Mr. Linky:

I love that photo. A couple of years ago I did a Mineral Pool fabric palette based on a photo of that exact pool!

wow. I'd never seen "Morning Glory" before - fascinating. I assumed its color came from minerals, but the wiki page says it's from unique bacteria. wildness :)

I'm glad for your explanation. It reminded me of a hurricane weather pattern. Or maybe it's tornado. I watch so many disaster movies it's hard to remember which one. Great shot!

I can't get Mr. Linky to work, but I participated today!!

That's an absolutely beautiful photo. I love the colors in it!! I was at Yellowstone when I was a kid and I still remember everything about it. That was BEFORE digital cameras LOL and I don't have many of my photos left, but I have the memories. Magnificent!!

Wow great picture Barbara. This was a tough assignment this week. Other then the weather, I could not come up with a picture for something hot!

What an absolutely fabulous photo!
And I wondered yesterday why your posts weren't coming through on my RsS feed so I came on to investigate and figured out that it must not have worked when I clicked to follow your blog last time doh! Have fixed that now!
So that's why I haven't participated since the first time- sorry!

What an awesome picture!
The colors in it make me think that it should be cold instead of hot. :^) I imagine it would smell of sulfer?

My "hotness" is mechanical/electrical today, rather than natural....

Great photo. I love that light blue of the water, it almost makes it look like there is snow in the middle of the foutain, not water.
