Design Wall Monday--June 6, 2011

I got quite a bit done this week.  I'm happy to have the design traced onto these stitcheries my Kitten's Tale BOM:

and this one for my Winter Wonderland UFO Challenge quilt:

I still have to do the embroidery, but having the fabric prepared and the design traced on is a big step.  The embroidery usually goes pretty fast once I get started on it.

Then I completed the 10th of 13 blocks for my Checkerboard Flowers BOM.

If you're curious, this is what the whole quilt will look like when it's finished:

I still need to finish the two blocks in the bottom right-hand corner and the center panel.  I have the two blocks, but I haven't received the center panel yet.  (It's not actually a panel--it's applique.)  When I started this, I worried abut all those little checkerboards, but they really haven't been as much of a bummer as I thought they might be.  I just continuously strip piece them and then cut them to size.  It goes pretty fast.

Finally, I started my handmade gift for the Handmade Gift Exchange being put on by Craftaholics Anonymous.  Today is the last day to sign up if you're interested.  Since I'm keeping my gift a surprise for my gift exchange partner, I can only show you this project in enticing puzzle pieces.

Hmmmmmm.  What could it be???  You'll have to follow along to find out.  The whole project will be revealed at the end of June.

Are the applique pieces cut with pinking shears? Don't think I've ever seen that done before. Gives it a nice affect. I'm sure you are getting real excited to get the last of your project in work. The center looks like it will keep you busy for awhile. Nice work, Sandi

The checkerboard flowers block is gorgeous! How do you get that look on the edges? Is it a special stitch? That will be a real treasure when it is completed.
