All My Least Favorite Things

. . . In one day!  Actually, I forgot about the part where I dropped off my Secret Garden quilt with my long arm quilter, Tammi.  That was fun, and I'm excited to be getting another UFO off my list.

Also, I got some thread to sew the binding onto my baby quilt.  I needed a nice hot pink, and I didn't have anything that was quite right.

Then I went to the dentist.  Oh my.  I haven't had any dental work, other than my semi-annual check up, in years.  I expected a "Look Ma . . . no cavities!" check up yet again.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  I won't go into the gory details.  It's enough to say that I have a tooth that has to be pulled, and I will need an implant.  None of this will be covered by insurance.  No fabric for me for a while, I guess.  Thank goodness for my stash-building while we were traveling.  I'll be in fabric for a long time to come.  Things could definitely be worse.

After that lovely news, I went to the grocery store . . . another of my most hated tasks.  Everything seemed even more expensive than usual.  I kept picking things up and wondering how much the price would cut into the money I'll need to pay for my dental work.

Having to pay for dental work is worse than having to buy new tires.  If I'm going to spend thousands of dollars on something, it'd be nice if I could say to my friends, "Look at my new ______________!  Isn't it just the best?"  Somehow when I fill in the blank with "Look at my new tires!" or "Look at my new implant!"  it just doesn't have the punch I'm looking for.  Definitely don't look for a picture of my new implant to be posted on my blog.

Poor Mike has to have a wisdom tooth pulled tomorrow.  He just got so darned smart that they had to pull one of his teeth.  I'll be sure to take real good care of him and make him some nice soup for dinner.  Turn about is always fair play in these situations.

I wonder if the tooth fairy will visit.  If she does, I hope she'll take into account how much all this dental work is going to cost.

I can feel your pain! I just had a similar dental visit.. and even with insuarance it still pained the pocketbook. And the grocery store.. rediculous. I am certainly using my coupons to the best of their abilities.
