Foto Finish--Macro

Today's Foto Finish theme is "Macro" or, if you prefer, "close-up" photography.  Here's my entry:

I love how macro photography lets you see what you might not ordinarily notice with your naked eye.  I couldn't even see the veins in the bee's wings when I looked through the viewfinder, but the camera did.  Cool, huh?  This image was taken at a rest stop in the Shasta Trinity National Forest while on a trip to Colorado a few years ago.  The bushes were blooming and this particular one was alive with bees.  I think I snapped image after image for about a half hour before I could tear myself away.

I've been thinking about what next week's theme should be.  Today is the 27th birthday of my youngest son, Matthew.  I'm thinking "Family" for next week's theme.  You could interpret this in different ways.  You might show us a person, or you might show us an activity, or you might show us an ant colony.  There are many ways to think of "family," and the interpretation of the theme for the week is always up to you.

For now, what did you get close to?  I want to see your macro/close-up shots now.  Here's Mr. Linky:

Barbara, that's such an awesome shot!! The veins in the wings are amazing. You must've been so thrilled when you downloaded that one off the camera!!

Beautiful shot. Those kind of shots are so hard to get since the bees don't like to pose for you.

That is a beautiful macro, just the right amount of sharp and blur and wonderful the way the light hits it in some spots. I need to find the cord for my camera with macro.

There were bees all over a flowering shrub next to a drive-thr' I was using the other day. I was thinking what a great shot that would be for this week!! Alas, the camera was in my office...soooo, I did my macro at work!

What a great shot Barbara. I have just returned from my very tiring weekend away with my Women In Action group. We had a wonderful day yesterday biking around 9 wineries. I am having troulbr viewing photos tonight - internet really slow for some reason so will have to check the other photos later. I have entered a photo from My FlickR site- no time to blog tonight.
