Don't Miss My Giveaway!  Winners announced Friday, April 1st.  Check it out at:

Fun Fact Friday Freebie Returns!

I got a few miscellaneous projects started this week.  First, I wanted to contribute to the "Just One Star" campaign.  I thought about doing more than one, but I'm trying to break my habit of being a perennial overachiever on stuff like this.  I did this one in honor of my dad, Clarence Nelson, who was a career Marine and a WWII and Vietnam vet.  I'm proud of him for his military service, and I'm proud to be from a military family.

The image is a little dark.  The background was more cream colored than it appears here.

And I made this little gift pouch for a friend.  I got the tutorial from A Spoonful of Sugar.  I love this little bag.  It was so quick and easy to make, and it's a great way to use scraps.  I think if I were going to make it again, I'd use a ribbon instead of the crochet thread, but it's all I had that was long enough this time.

Finally, I was able to finish a kit that a friend asked me to complete for her.  This is raw-edged applique.  The instructions were a little strange, and I ended up peeling up the edges of some of the appliques to get the placement right.  It wasn't a problem though because I just used a glue stick to stick them back down to keep them from shifting as I did the top-stitching.  I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I hope she's happy with it.  I used a ribbon so that it can be hung with one nail, scroll style, and I used a bamboo skewer shoved under the top binding to keep it from sagging in the middle.  Works great!

Next week, I'm hoping to get at that pile of UFO's I want to finish.  What's on your design wall?  If you want to see what others are doing, check out Judy's blog at:

Great star block especially with the thoughts behind it. Cute bag and the wall hanging you completed for your friend is amazing.
