Traveling Gourmet--Mike's Perfect Margarita 2.0

We are in Borrego Springs tonight and tomorrow night.  If we decide to stay longer, we'll have to find another place because this park is full unless we just move from spot to spot.  In any case, we got a tip that this was a nice park.  It's nice enough, but we've been to nicer ones.  Still, we haven't spent any time in Borrego Springs, which happens to be in the middle of the Anza Borrego State Park.  We haven't spent much time here at all, and we might decide to move to one of the state park campgrounds, if there is room.  If not . . . we'll move on.  I still want to visit my friend from high school, Lisa, who lives in Hemet, less than a day's drive from here.

In any case, it's the nicest weather we've had so far.  I have my shorts on for the first time, and we're partaking of our first maragaritas of the trip.  We love the margaritas they make at Applebee's (the chain restaurant), and we've tried making ours taste like theirs.  This is the second version Mike has come up with, and I'll share it with you here:

Mike's Perfect Margarita 2.0
1 1/2 ounces  gold tequila
1/2 ounce  Cointreau
1/2 ounce  Triple Sec
3 ounces  Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix
Juice from 1/2 fresh lime

Mix all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice.  Pour.  Enjoy.  Enough for one person (unless you're a lightweight--then, it's enough for two).

So we're going to relax this evening.  I have some frozen TGIF Potato Skins in the oven for an appetizer and later on, we'll have a light dinner.  Tomorrow we'll head into the little town of Borrego Springs to check it out.  There are no quilt shops here, sadly, but there are several galleries.  If I can't have a quilt shop, a gallery is a close second.  More later.

Love galleries, too. We have several within an hour of here and a few within five or ten minutes; great location for culture.

Enjoy Borrego Springs and Lisa’s company, joy will percolate when you all see one another-sweet.

It may not be a "quilt" shop but be sure to visit Karen Brown at her shop called "On Pins and Needles". She handles a lot of fabrics and other related hobby materials in Borrego Springs at The Mall.
