I did too much cutting on Thursday, and now my arthritic hands are giving me problems. I should have known better, but now I can't sew for a few days until things settle down. So . . . what to do?
So I made a cherry pie with the cherries I got at the Portland Farmer's Market. Next to sewing, I love cooking, and so it's a pretty good substitute.
Pie crusts are kind of like free motion quilting where I'm concerned. How well I do is hit or miss. This one isn't too bad. I kind of messed up on the right hand side, so I covered it with the little holes I cut out for vents. Can you see it? They're supposed to look like cherries. I do the same thing when I mess up quilting--just cover it up with something.
I think it will taste good either way. Mmmmmmmm. I can't wait to dig in.

I too cover mistakes with cute stuff when there's little alternative. I adore the cherries the best. How do you pit them? There must be a way to do it quickly and efficiently-even for one like me (and you) with arthritic fingers that complain when (over) used.
I use a cherry pitter. The squeezing motion this tool requires doesn't bother me as much as doing other kinds of things, like holding a small piece of thread or a needle. The cutting got too me because I was using the iron a lot (and the weight of it bothers me), and because I was leaning on my Gypsy Gripper that is attached to my ruler. I should have known better, but it's hard to stop when you're in a groove. Don't you think so?
