Good morning, my friends. When I wrote yesterday's post, I was only half thinking we'd actually visit a quilt shop. Add a coffee shop to the mix, and Mike was as much in favor of it as I was. This was a shop I've wanted to visit since before the pandemic. And can you believe they actually have a coffee shop inside? What a treasure!
So, we had a nice lunch with our friends Bill and Lenelda, and then there was plenty of time for some shopping. And I needed something to use as a back for Jericho Walls, so I had a legitimate reason for being there...and money in my pocket. What could be better than that? I couldn't remember the name of the shop, and I wasn't sure they'd survived the pandemic. So, I inquired of my friend, The Google, and found it right away.
It was early, and so it was closed when I Googled it, but it opened at 10:00 a.m. and stayed open until 5:00 p.m. That gave us plenty of time for lunch and shopping. Approaching the front door, it looks like this...and yes, it rained nearly the whole live-long day.
This might have been the friendliest shop I've ever visited.
Going through the front door, it looked like this. But where's the coffee??
Well f*ck a duck. There it is right there.
They even had a coffee quilt hanging on the wall overhead. Of course they did.
Looking down this long line of fabric, see that woman way down there? She was getting someone else to make Mike a cup of coffee. She was as chatty and friendly as could be. She told us she volunteered at the store, and in exchange they quilted her quilts for her.
For coffee, he had something white chocolate mint and mocha. I forget what it was exactly, but it had all those flavors. I paid for the coffee when I paid for my fabric. Wait...you knew I was going to buy some fabric, didn't you?
So let's just look around a little. It wasn't a big shop, but I was told they'd just received over 200 bolts of batiks that were not even out on the shelves. I'm not sure where they were going to find room for that much fabric.
Their Christmas fabrics were out and on sale. Anything in any Christmas line was on sale for 25% off.
And that included these. Isn't that tractor fabric cute? If I had any reason for it, it would have come home with me, but I couldn't think of anything. Nevertheless, I spied what I wanted for my quilt back right away. I'll tell you in a minute, but any guesses?
They had a supply of my favorite Creative Grids rulers.

I didn't walk beyond this sign, but there was a classroom in the back. I like their little banner.
I liked this t-shirt. Seems like a good plan to me.
As she was cutting my fabric, I noticed this pile of clappers. These are invaluable when making miniature quilts. They give you a nice flat seam. I've never seen them in any other quilt shop. The one I have was ordered off Amazon.
Okay, so if you guessed this fabric for the back of Jericho Walls, then ding, ding, ding! You win the prize. (Disclaimer: there is no prize.) It was a part of a Christmas line, and so it was 25% off. I saw some other fabrics I liked for the back too, but I couldn't pass on that deal.
And then, I wanted something to represent this shop in my Shop Hop quilt. Since it was raining, and that is sooooo Oregon, I picked this one. It made me think of rain. If they'd had something coffee related, I would have chosen that.
Before we left for lunch, I finished off the "Hanging the Christmas Lights" stitchery. I'll probably turn this into a little mug rug.
I can't go any farther with Jericho Walls until I receive the extra fabric I ordered...and I
really hope it's the right color. It was originally scheduled to arrive Saturday, but I've received notification it will arrive today. Fingers crossed. If it comes, I'll work on finishing Jericho Walls. And if not, I'll get to work on my list of WIPs. Next in line is this block for When Quilters Gather. It's called "Your Iron is your Friend."
But first, I'll get busy taking the first stitches for The Story of My Day. This block is called "Type Something Inspirational."
We have grocery shopping to do today. Fortunately, it's a short list. And there are a couple of housekeeping chores I need to do, but I should have plenty of time for sewing. And with that, my friends, it's time for me to get going. Have a nice day, Everyone.
