Pets on Quilts Show: Pawtrait of Sadie

Pets on Quilts 2016

Sadie! Come quick! It's time to show your stuff at the Pets on Quilts Show! We have to thank Padsworth, Dragondrop, and Lily Pad Quilting for hosting this best-quilt-show-on-earth event!

You're the Hostess with the Meowstess this year from the Three Cats Ranch!

Mom is totally into making these pet pawtraits. Yours is her fifth one! Here are the other ones she's done. That's me, Smitty, in the upper right there.

So, Sadie, you know you've hit the big time when your purrecious mug is captured in a pet pawtrait.

Pawesome! Did you see it Smitty?

I think Mom did a supurrb job capturing my lovely furs, don't you?

I helped her make it. I sat right nearby so that she could gaze into my eyes and get every fur. Every fur in its place...that's my meowtto. (Can you tell I've been purracticing my Catonese vocabulary words?)

I purrsonally inspected every stitch, and when I purrceived an error, I appurrised her of my impurression.

Mom, look! You furgot this little spurrinkle of orange right here.

But I told her right from the get-go: No nude modeling. I'm under age. My fur coat stays on at all times.

Well, that's a good girl, Sadie. I'm happy to know you've repented from your street-walker days when you were a cat on the purrowl. Next, you need to work on your model walk. You need to do it like those models at those Mew York furshion shows.

Here, let me demonstrate. Watch and learn, my young furriend.

And Sadie, we can't let this oppurrtunity pass without giving a big meow-out to our good furriend Molly who blogs at the Objects of Design. Molly helped pick out the fabrics fur your pawtrait. Isn't she purretty?

Molly sent all these beautiful tortoiseshell batiks for Mom to use. Look at how beautifully these match your furs.

And do you remember when you had that, er, exhaust purroblem with your tailpipe? Molly even sent this fabric for the, um, rest of your furriends...your passengers, we might say.

Molly even gave you a nickname: Sadie McWormypants!

Oh, Smitty, don't be impurrtinent. Can we please not talk about that? Not right befur the show!

I liked that part best of all, Sadie, and so I reminded Mom to use it when she made your pawtrait. I said, it's right over here, Mom!

She put it on the back side of your quilt, Sadie. Get it? Backside? Ha! Our mom is such a card!

As long as I live, he's never going to let me furget. It's pawsitively empurrassing.

And when she quilted it, what do you suppose she quilted? Huh? You guessed it: Worms!!!

I think even the binding has little worm faces...well, maybe not faces...worms don't have faces.

So here we go, Sadie! Here's our entry into the Pets on Quilts Show! It's you: Pawtrait of Sadie.

Sadie's pawtrait finished up at 11 x 13 inches...so a mini, like our little cat. It's fusible applique and furree meowtion quilted on my mom's domestic sewing machine.

Now all you peeps head on back to the Pets on Quilt Show. There's plenty more pets to purruse.

What a fun post Sadie. Great job. I love your pet pawtrait and the photos of you next to it. While they are all absolutely purrfect, you have such gorgeous fur that it looks like it would be difficult for you mom to create such a pawtrait. But she did a fantastic job. Thanks for sharing and inspiring with us today.

Purrfectly brilliant.

You made an excellent pawtrait given what you had to work with. It's tragic when a cat can't decide between black or orange tabby. Respectfully, Molly

They are really works of art! In one of the photos it looks like she's looking in a mirror!

Another brilliant finish . . . and every possible purr-ism. :)

You ever have a really crappy day and then something comes along that makes you smile and help put things in purrspective? Well, Smitty and Sadie did that for me today. Thanks for blogging. Yours is the one I look forward to daily.

Such a funny post! I love the pawtrait. Especially how the background and her eyes match. Hope you're thinking about doing that other cat Molly's pawtrait sometime - she's lovely.

She turned out beautifully! Worms in the FMQ, did Smitty talk you into that? Sadie will be asking you to do one of the hated neighbor cat just to get back at Smitty.

What a fabulous job your mom did on your pawtrait Sadie!!!! It shows all your beautiful furs to their best advantage - and your eyes! - wow!!! And shame on Smitty bringing up that disagreeable ailment you suffered not so long ago. It wasn't your fault, was it? I think he is secretly proud of you mending your street-walker ways and becoming a proper lady =^..^=

OMG, best post! The quilt turned out amazing! It looks just like Sadie. And the worms, though not funny for Sadie, I am laughing. You even put them on the quilt...love it!

Boy howdy, your mom really knows what she is doing! Wow! Those pawtraits are super good. Of course, she had some mighty fine looking models, but she had the talent to capture it. All three of you --Molly, Smitty, and Sadie--are beautiful as can be. Good luck in the Pets on Quilts.

Wonderful post Smitty and Sadie. And Sadie, you are pawsitivly as entertaining as Smitty. I am glad you two are good furiends now. Your mom did a great job on all of the pawtraits.

I think this must be your best pawtrait so far. You really captured Sadie. And I love when the cats blog. It makes my day.

Sadie's pawtrait turned out beautifully! It really captures her gorgeous fur and pretty eyes. Congrats on a very fun finish.

An amazing likeness! And I think Sadie is your most challenging subject yet. Word is going to get around about you and your gift for portraiture, and pet parents will be lining up at your door, waving pictures of their (our?) little sweethearts. I'm only half-joking--you really have a gift for this, a truly great eye.
