October NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

Boo! It's the scary Halloween version of the NewFO Challenge linky party and giveaway! If these were ordinary times, I would have had this post written and posted by now. And I would try to be witty and clever. But for today, I think I'll just steal some scary Halloween cat images of the internet and leave it at that.

So....you're scared, right? Before I go on, I'll just briefly update you about Mike...he looked a little perkier last night (emphases on "a little"). He was started on a new antibiotic yesterday afternoon, and we are really hoping things will start looking up. I'll know more when I see him today.

But, hey! This here's a party. We're not talking about sickos unless it has something to do with Halloween, trick-or-treating, or TPing somebody's blog.

So let's get to the fun part. That's why you came, isn't it?

Today we're playing for the moon needle nanny. I think it looks just a little bit scary, don't you? And everyone who links up will have a chance to win.

So here's what's new in my sewing room for October. I'll start with the easy ones first, and this is the big reveal of my mystery redwork project. I made it for my good old friend from back in high school, Marei (and yes, that is how Marei spells what some folks pronounce as "Mary" or "Merry" or "marry"). I know that Marei received her little wall-hanging, and so now I'm excited to show it to you.

This is from a pattern by Bird Brain Designs, and I had so much fun making it for Marei.

Also, I made a doll quilt for my partner in the monthly doll quilt swap. I call this one "Cat House". Yes, I am very original when it comes to naming my quilts. If I'd been thinking (which gives me a headache), I would have called it "Cat Treehouse" which would bring in all the design elements. Except the sidewalk, so never mind.

Those were both finished, but remember, you don't have to finish anything! And just to prove my point, here's this one, which I was supposed to start on Monday. You do know about the best laid plans, don't you? I didn't get beyond the choosing fabrics stage. It's a table runner called "Corn Flowers" from Sticks and Broomstraws. I think it will be cute if I ever get started on it. I'm determined to do that, however, just as soon as I can get back into the sewing room.

And before I go on...here's another gratuitous scary Halloween cat:

Whoa! I'll bet that knocked you right off your chair, didn't it? Terrifying, to say the very least. Oh, not scary enough for you? Take this then:

Okay, so here's the part you've been waiting for. Now I'm ready to see what you've come up with for the month of October. Here are my easy-to-follow, friendly guidelines.

1.  Please link-up with your newly started projects from October, finished or not.  If you feel like it, show us the progress you've made on any other previously posted NewFO projects.

2.  Please link back to this post from your blog.  Also, please link to your blog post, not your blog.  Links to entire blogs will be edited or deleted entirely.  Links provided for the sole purpose of promoting other events or shopping experiences will be deleted without apology.  (Sorry, but some folks can't seem to resist crashing the party.)

3.  Don't have a blog?  Upload an image to this FlickR group and link to that.  If you have questions about how to do that or about how to link up, please email me.  If you're having trouble posting your image, email it as an attachment, and I will be happy to post it for you.  Also know that it takes a bit for your thumbnail to appear, so don't despair.  It will appear eventually.  You might need to "refresh".

4.  Obviously, I need some way to contact you no matter how you link up.  No email address and no other way to contact you equals no entry in the giveaway.  Email me separately if you need to.

I'll leave this linky party open until one minute before midnight on Thursday, November 7, 2013 Winner of the needle nanny will be announced on Friday, November 8, 2013!  We will ship anywhere in the universe, so international and interplanetary participants are always welcome!

So show me what's new!

I LOVE the 'old friend' red work. I've got to go right over and see if they still have it in stock! I can add it to my unfinished pile of good intentions, lol. I hope things are getting better in your world . . . . ?

That is one glorious T.P. job!! We had much fun in high school getting each others' houses - typically on our birthdays. What a pain to clean up, but so much revelry going up and trying not to get caught. ;D

Very cute stitchery and fun "cat house" quilts. Sorry you didn't get to start your third project.

Hope that Mike is continuing to improve.

Glad to hear Mike is feeling better. Too bad they won't let Gracie visit.

The redwork looks wonderful - as usual with your embroidery! The DQ is fun! Perfect kitty in the doorway.

Don't forget to take care of yourself too....

The last two kitties are just too cute. I wonder how long the black one kept the bat wings on. Love the sentiment on the redwork--almost inspires me to embroider.

Beautiful Red workandpoem for a friend. I wrote my post yesterday, hoping the the Linky would show up sometime soon. I had two NewFO's this month. one finished except for the binding. Both were minis using my Bonus HST's.

I linked up this month with my treat bags that I made for Ginger and Piper, my two favorite Littles. At four and five they are Prime Age for Halloween delights and they had a great time this year. My bags helped I like to think.
