It's here! The Bloggers' Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side. I decided to enter the Checkerboard Flowers BOM quilt which, coincidentally, is also entered in the 2012 International Quilt Festival of Ireland next month.
It took me nearly three years to finish this quilt, and I'm glad I stuck it out. It's fusible applique. Each flower edge is pinked, and when the quilt is washed, it will rag and become three dimensional. The edges of each flower are top-stitched, and then details were added with machine embroidery.
There is a different flower to represent each month.
The sunflowers were somewhat tedious to make, but I think they are my favorites.
The center of the quilt contains a bouquet with all of the flowers represented on the larger quilt.
It's my first time entering a quilt in a show, and so I'm very excited to be traveling to Ireland and seeing my quilt there next month. I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting.
