Orange you Glad It's Finished?

Yay!  Yesterday I sewed the last border on the Sunshine on my Shoulders quilt!  Remember that this was made from Judy Laquidara's Peaches and Dreams pattern, available for free on her website.  I can't remember when I've been so happy to finish a project.  I've been working on this for sooooooooo long.  The quilt is so bright and sunny (no pun intended), and so it's been worth the effort.  The blocks were tedious (in my view, anyway), and so it's good to finally have it all done.  Ready for the unveiling?  Better put on your sunglasses!

It is so large that I can't fit it all in one image any more, but I wanted you to see all the borders.  I decided to leave off the eighth border, mainly because it was already so large.  I didn't think it needed another four inches both directions.  I'm using a yellow and orange stripe for the binding, and so I wanted to end up with a solid border (it's an orange batik, so not technically solid, but solid enough).

Today I'm going to piece together the back, which will sort of mimic the blocks.  I'm hoping not to spend the entire day on it since the project has already eclipsed the last two weeks of sewing.  That's not to say I haven't done anything else.  I'm dangerously close to finishing up my hand-quilted mini quilt, and I was able to do this little stitchery for the Sew Happy Me Sew Along:

I'm just loving this project.  Today, in addition to making the back, I'm hoping to get the second block for the Blogger's BOM finished.  The fabrics are selected and the pieces are cut.  Now they just need to be sewn together.  More about that later.

How's your weekend shaping up?

Sunshine on my Shoulders is stunning! I like all the orange and yellow. I'm not normally a fan of orange, but it looks so luscious mixed in with the yellow. Congrats on getting it this far!

This is beautiful. I can see where it would be tedious. Glad you stuck with it.

I really like this a lot. OH DEAR....now I am going to have to make one too. I am wondering if this would be cute in multiple scrappy colors? I may try this!

Thanks for sharing - I love Judy Laquidara's patterns!
