A Finish for the Fourth

Looking for the June NewFO Linky Party?

Well, I didn't think I'd be blogging today, but the morning has been a little more productive than expected. I finished up my two salads this morning, watered the pots, fed the birds, loved on the kitties, and then...quilting. Yay!

I showed you some of the quilting I did in my post from yesterday. I wasn't completely satisfied with what I'd done for the "rays" of the sun, and so after giving it some thought, I decided to add another "ray" inside the ones I'd already quilted, thus:

It also allowed me to disguise a few little bobbles from my first time around. I won't show you, and then you won't feel compelled to call the Quilt Police.

When I had that finished, I quilted the border with a kind of sunflowery, leafy, vine of my own invention...the vine, I mean. Haven't ever seen sunflowers growing on a vine, but that's quilting for you.

Here's how it looks from the back.

And here's my finished front!

If you like this pattern, it's available as an instant download right here...designed by Jane L. Kakaley.

Of course, I still need to hand sew the binding, but it's a small quilt at 36 x 36, and so that shouldn't take long at all. I hope you like my quilt! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Recall that this is for my Initially Yours guild challenge, and I'm going to feel proud to show it off at the August meeting reveal!

And now I've used up my time for today. Time to hit the shower and get ready for the drive downtown. Gonna watch me some Cracken Boomers. Have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July celebration, everybody!

You always do such creative stitching lines that really add to the whole quilt. I don't see any boo-boos, only the overall lines. Lovely!

I love it! I know it is silly but I feel, since I have followed its creation, I have a vested interest and I am so proud of you too. I wish I could be at the guild meeting to hear their reactions to your show and tell.

WOW!! I love everything about this finish Barbara. The quilting, the colors, all the way down to the border and binding! Great contrasts of color and pattern!

I love how it turned out and how you quilted it is just perfect! I do stay away from the quilting police, so no worries there. A little wobble or bobble here & there just adds to the charm!

Your solution to the sun ray problem is perfect! I love any solution that doesn't involve a seam ripper--and in addition this looks good. Love the quilting design all over the quilt and the batik border and back. You gotta get rave reviews at the big reveal for this! You finish one and I start one--but hey, I'm ready for July NewFO. :-)
